He is a pioneer staff member of the University with extensive experience in teaching, research, and academic administration.<\/p>\n

He holds a PhD in History and Strategic Studies from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, Nigeria. His teaching and research interests span African History, International Relations, and Peace and Conflict Studies, reflecting a strong commitment to scholarly excellence and interdisciplinary inquiry.<\/p>\n

Over the years, Professor Nwoko has served the University in several key leadership capacities, including Director of the Centre for Research and Innovation, Dean of the College of Humanities (2018\u20132022), and Dean of the College of Postgraduate Studies, a position he concluded in August 2024. He also served as a member of the University\u2019s Governing Council from 2013 to 2023, contributing significantly to institutional governance and development.<\/p>\n

His academic excellence and research commitment have earned him numerous competitive international grants and fellowships. He is a Laureate of CODESRIA\u2019s Afro-Arab Advance Institute, Rabat, Morocco (2012), and a Residential Postdoctoral Fellow of the African Peacebuilding Network (APN) of the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), USA (2015). In the same year, he served as an External Scholar at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), Accra, Ghana, and as a Visiting Fellow at the World Peace Foundation, Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, Boston, USA.<\/p>\n

In 2018, Professor Nwoko was a recipient of the Postdoctoral Fellowship under the African Humanities Program of the American Council of Learned Societies. Earlier, in 2015, he was named a Carnegie Corporation of New York Scholar (CCNY) in San Diego, California, USA. In July 2022, he secured funding from the Endangered Archive Programme of the British Library, supported by the Arcadia Fund, for a digitisation and cataloguing project in Lokoja, Nigeria. More recently, he was awarded a Senior Research Fellowship in July 2024 at the Maison de la Cr\u00e9ation et de l\u2019Innovation (MaCI), Universit\u00e9 Grenoble Alpes, France, which he successfully completed on July 15, 2025.<\/p>\n

Professor Nwoko is a member of the Historical Society of Nigeria (HSN), the Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL), and other reputable academic and professional bodies. His scholarly contributions and sustained service continue to support the academic mission and institutional advancement of McPherson University.[\/tt_biography][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”About DAP” tab_id=”1708521517473-308e6a97-e448″][vc_column_text]The Directorate of Academic Planning is an integral part of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office and is headed by a Director. The Director of Academic Planning (DAP) reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor to whom he\/she is directly responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Directorate. The DAP is being assisted by a Deputy Director.<\/p>\n

In addition to the Director and Deputy Director, other staff members of the Directorate are Academic Planning Officer (Statistician), Administrative Officer, Secretary, Clerical Staff and Administrative Assistant.
