The management of McPherson University is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Lawal A. Babatunde as the Director of Academic Planning for a period of two years. The appointment reflects the university\u2019s commitment to strengthening academic quality, institutional development and strategic planning.<\/p>\n
As Director of Academic Planning, Professor Lawal will oversee the development and implementation of academic plans and policies of the university. He will also coordinate curriculum development and review processes, analyse academic data for informed decision-making, collaborate with faculties and departments to improve academic programmes, and lead accreditation as well as quality assurance initiatives across the institution.<\/p>\n
Professor Lawal is an alumnus of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Obafemi Awolowo University, Saint Monica University and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, where he obtained his first, second and third degrees in Accounting and Finance respectively. He is also widely recognised for his professional affiliations, holding memberships and fellowships in several reputable professional bodies within and outside Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Professor Lawal is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Fellow of the International Association of Research Scholars and Administrators (IARSA), Fellow of the Association of Forensic Accountants Researchers (AFAR), and Fellow of the Institute of Educational Leadership Practitioners of Nigeria (IELPN). He is also a member of the Certified National Accountants (CNA), Chartered Institute of Forensics and Certified Fraud Investigators of Nigeria (CIFCFIN), Certified Institute of Hospitality, Tourism and Management (CIHTM), Institute of Public Accountants Australia (IPA), and Associate Member of the Institute of Financial Accountants, United Kingdom (IFA), among other professional bodies.<\/p>\n
Throughout his academic and professional engagements, Professor Lawal has contributed significantly to national development and policy formulation. In 2018, he worked with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group as a Specialist Consultant on a research project titled Expanded Review of the Nigerian Tax System. The research focused on reforms aimed at driving tax revenue growth through policy, legislative and administrative reforms, and was presented at the 24th Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja.<\/p>\n
Professor Lawal has served McPherson University in several important capacities, including as Council Member representing Congregation, Chairman of the University Ceremonies Committee and Chairman of the Space Allocation Committee. He has also distinguished himself nationally and internationally as an External Examiner to several universities, including Babcock University, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Crescent University and the University of Johannesburg, among others. He has equally served on several accreditation panels of the National Universities Commission.<\/p>\n
The newly appointed Director is the immediate past Dean of the College of Postgraduate Studies and former Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance at McPherson University. His research interests include Environmental Accounting, Oil and Gas Accounting, Auditing and Assurance, International Accounting, Forensic Accounting and Financial Management. With over sixty scholarly publications in reputable journals and active participation in conferences within and outside Nigeria, Professor Lawal remains a respected scholar and administrator.
