McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, held its 13th Matriculation Ceremony on Wednesday, welcoming 984 new students into its academic community. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Adegbaye Igbasan, presided over the ceremony, delivering an inspiring address to the newly admitted students. He emphasized the University’s commitment to academic excellence, integrity, and service to society. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
In his speech, the Institution’s helmsman highlighted the steady growth of the University, noting that the latest admissions marked an increase in Student enrollment across its six Colleges. The Colleges include Law (COLAW), Computing (COLCUM), Allied Health Sciences (COAHS), Natural & Applied Sciences (COLNAS), Humanities, Social & Management Sciences, (COHSMAS) and Postgraduate Studies (COPOS), alongside the Centre for Continuing Education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prof. Igbasan commended the Students for meeting the Institution\u2019s high admission standards and encouraged them to strive for academic excellence. He reassured them that McPherson University remains committed to providing a conducive learning environment with experienced lecturers, state-of-the-art facilities, and a peaceful atmosphere for intellectual growth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of the matriculation process, students were required to sign the Matriculation Oath, signifying their official membership in the McPherson University community. Professor Igbasan urged them to uphold the Institution\u2019s core values, stressing that their primary goal should be to develop themselves academically and morally for future success. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Vice-Chancellor also advised students to take their studies seriously and attend all lectures promptly. Citing notable figures such as soccer legend, Pele and Benjamin Franklin, he emphasized that success requires hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to learning. He reminded them that there are no shortcuts to academic success and encouraged them to make disciplined choices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beyond academics, Professor Igbasan underscored the University\u2019s strong spiritual foundation. He reminded students that McPherson University is a faith-based Institution and that attendance at Chapel services and other spiritual activities remain mandatory. He warned against engaging in social vices, such as sexual immorality, drug abuse, and examination malpractice, emphasizing that the University has a zero-tolerance policy for such behaviours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, the Vice-Chancellor cautioned students against indiscipline, keeping bad company, and any acts that could jeopardize their academic journey. He harped on the importance of good conduct, both in and outside campus, urging Students to respect University regulations and avoid actions that could lead to the termination of their studentship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the Vice-Chancellor\u2019s address, the Acting Registrar, Mr. Olufemi Adebowale, administered the Matriculation Oath. In their pledge, the Students vowed to respect the University authorities, abide by all academic and administrative regulations, promote peaceful coexistence, and uphold the institution\u2019s reputation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ceremony concluded with an expression of gratitude from Professor Igbasan to parents, guests, and members of the press for their presence. He wished the students success in their academic journey and prayed for their prosperity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
