Professor Unu Lucy Airauhi

Unu Lucy Airauhi was born on the 14th of August 1954 and is a Professor of Parasitology. She is a graduate of Medical Laboratory Science and Registered Associate Member of the Nigerian Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (1978), Post Graduate Fellowship Parasitology Diploma (1988), and University of Benin M.Sc. Parasitology (1990) and Ph.D. Parasitology (1994). Her credentials are evaluated at International Education Evaluation in Charlotte, NC, 282, in the United States of America, and equated to B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D., according to the standard in the USA. Professor Unu Lucy Airauhi has retired after a very successful, fruitful, and dedicated career and service to Nigeria at the University of Benin.
Her research is focused on ‘Host microorganism interactions’ based on the principles aimed at promoting health and preventing illness. Her research designs have highlighted the contribution of basic sciences of molecular genetics and immunology to the understanding of host-microorganism interactions. Hence, shedding more light on the diverse pathologies and epidemiological patterns of microbial diseases. Furthermore, she has continued to encourage teaching and research designs that utilize molecular mechanisms related to the diagnosis and epidemiology of microbial infections and diseases.
