Licensing and Location
- The Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, the main sponsor of the McPHERSON UNIVERSITY, has since its establishment in Nigeria in 1955, taken giant strides in formal education. This is deliberate as the leadership over the years has remained resolute in its quest to developing and equipping men and women for leadership and service to God and mankind.

Having successfully run and impacted good education at the nursery, primary and secondary levels in many towns and cities of Nigeria, the Church embraced a bigger version of expanding its scope by complementing government efforts in producing highly skilled human resources, through the establishment of a university that is geared towards building people who are imbibed with sound and balanced academic and moral education, uprightness and godly virtues.
Origin of the name
- McPHERSON UNIVERSITY (named after the founder, Aimee Semple McPherson) of the International Foursquare Gospel Church in USA, was licensed by the National Universities Commission (NUC) on 28th February, 2012, as the 49th private University and 121st University in Nigeria.
- The University, located on Km 75 Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Seriki Sotayo in Obafemi Owode Local Government area, Ogun State, officially opened her doors to the first set of students in October 2012; and has at the end of the 2024/2025 academic session graduated ten sets of students.
Take Off and Facilities
- Apart from quality teaching and research by its dedicated and well-trained staff, the University has been at the vanguard of community development. It has built an ultra-modern town hall for the host community of Seriki Sotayo and has been providing quality medical services to over 8,000 people in the villages around the University. McPherson University has also facilitated the deployment of a power sub-station which now provides 24/7 electricity supply to its environs. The Institution also offers scholarships to indigent students with requisite o'level and JAMB results, around the host communities.
- Currently as a licensed Institution, McU runs degree programmes that lead to the award of Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts from five Colleges namely: College of Natural and Applied Sciences; College of Computing, College of Humanities, Social and Management Sciences; College of Law, and College of Allied Health Sciences. The institution also offers the following undergraduate courses; Nursing Science, Computer Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Industrial Chemistry, Industrial Mathematics, Medical Physics, Mass Communication, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, International Relations, Marketing, English Language, History and International Studies, Religion and Peace Studies, Medical Lab. Science, Public Health, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Law and Health Information Management. It also runs Postgraduate courses in Computer Science, Accounting, Business Administration, etc.
