The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has officially approved McPherson University, Ogun State, as one of the centers for its statutory examinations in the state. This decision comes after a thorough assessment of the facilities at the Department of Nursing Science, College of Allied Health Sciences. The approval marks another milestone for the University, as a growing Center for excellence in healthcare education.
On Friday, 8th November 2024, the Institution hosted its first Nursing Council Examinations, welcoming scores of nursing students from universities across Ogun State and its environs. The university campus was abuzz, as buses transported neatly dressed students in their nursing uniforms to the examination venue.
Nursing Council officials were also spotted around the examination area to ensure a smooth process, setting up the necessary equipment and materials required for the exercise.
Speaking with the Coordinator of the Nursing Science Department, Mr. Canis Irodi, it was revealed that a total of 64 McPherson University students participated in the examination and achieved a remarkable success rate of 95.31%. He commended the students for their dedication and performance. He also emphasized the Institution’s commitment to continually upgrading its facilities in order to maintain its status as a registered center for these vital examinations.
Security at the examination venue was notably tight, as staff from the Institution and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria worked diligently to maintain order and professional decorum.
Mr. Irodi further highlighted the importance of the Computer Adaptive Objective Structured Clinical Examination (CAOSCE) Laboratory, which played a key role in hosting the tests. He assured that McPherson University is doing everything possible to upgrade its facilities, including the acquisition of more computers, to accommodate more schools in subsequent examinations.
The approval has sparked excitement among the University community, with students and staff celebrating the recognition of the Institution as a reliable partner in healthcare education. This achievement positions McPherson University as a significant contributor to the healthcare sector, further solidifying its reputation as a center for academic and professional excellence. This feat also affirms the Full Accreditation status granted McPherson University, by the National university Council and Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
