McPherson University’s Public Relations Officer, a Deputy Registrar in the Information and Public Relations Unit, Mr. Tokunbo Olakunle, recently led a delegation of McPherson University staff on a courtesy visit to Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan. These staff members are currently on sabbatical from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA). The visit aimed to congratulate Professor Igbasan on his recognition by The Guardian Newspaper as one of “50 Nigerians with Integrity in Leadership.”
During the visit to the Vice-Chancellor’s office, Mr. Tokunbo commended Professor Igbasan for the remarkable growth McPherson University has achieved in less than three years under his leadership. He highlighted the significant development on campus and the consistent positive media coverage of both the Vice-Chancellor and the university, attributing these as contributing factors to the prestigious honor bestowed by the prominent African news outlet.
Professor Igbasan expressed his gratitude to the delegation, noting his pleasure at their visit. As a product of FUTA himself, he acknowledged the excellent performance of all FUTA staff observing their sabbatical at McPherson University. He emphasized that their efforts and conduct have positively reflected on his administration.
He went on to solicit their continued support for the ongoing growth of the institution, acknowledging McPherson University’s rapid expansion despite its relatively smaller community. “The system is quite different from the public university system, but I thank God for your prayers and support,” Professor Igbasan stated, urging them not to relent in their contributions.
Dr. Emmanuel Ibam, Acting Dean of the College of Computing, responded by commending the Vice-Chancellor for his notable achievements and unwavering integrity in service. “We are proud of you, sir, and glad to associate with you,” Dr. Ibam remarked, offering prayers for Professor Igbasan’s continued strength and grace.
