Currently, this unit is merged with the Works and Services Department but under the control of the Vice-Chancellor. Physical planning activities are currently being executed from this office. As the University expands, it will become a separate unit under the Office of the Vice-Chancellor as is the practice in other Nigerian universities.
The primary responsibility of the Works and Physical Planning directorate is the maintenance of all physical and mechanical facilities owned by the University. It is also currently charged with the responsibility of maintaining the Univesity master plan so as to ensurecampus environmental quality, aesthetics and functional effectiveness.
The Works and Physical Planning Department started the pursuit of this mission from the first day of resumption on 2nd October, 2012 when it took off as a one man. However, within seven years of its existence, the story has changed remarkably with the employment of more technical staff to man the Directorate..
