As McPherson University prepares to welcome students for the 2026/2027 academic session, the institution has adopted a staggered resumption schedule to facilitate a seamless arrival process on campus.
The phased resumption for fresh students will begin with the Faculty of Nursing Science on Monday, October 19, 2026. The College of Computing will follow on Tuesday, October 20; the Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science and College of Law on Wednesday, October 21; the College of Humanities, Social and Management Sciences on Thursday, October 22; the College of Public Health, Health Information Management and the College of Natural and Applied Sciences on Friday, October 23.
Returning students will begin their phased resumption on Monday, October 26, 2026. The arrangement is designed to manage student arrivals effectively and facilitate a smooth transition into the new academic session. All students are advised to strictly adhere to the schedule published on the university website to ensure the exercise’s success.
In preparation for the resumption, the university management recently conducted an unscheduled inspection of key facilities across the campus to assess their readiness for the students’ arrival. In a new twist on routine campus inspections, typically led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Igbasan, this round was led by the Registrar, Mrs. Emi’ Alawode. The inspection was alongside the University Bursar, Mrs. Aderonke Adeofun, and the University Librarian, Dr. Jerome Idiegbeyan-Ose.
The delegation carefully evaluated the university’s newly completed developments and infrastructural upgrades to verify their readiness and ensure that the facilities meet the required standards ahead of the students’ arrival. The management team reviewed the completed facilities, assessed safety provisions, and inspected student accommodation and other key learning and residential spaces. Particular attention was given to the quality, functionality, and readiness of the facilities, with the delegation satisfied that the accommodation and other facilities will be fully ready for use on resumption.
During the inspection, the lead Contractor for one of the buildings, Mr. Bambi Fashina, briefed the management team on the facilities and confirmed that the furniture was already on site. He also affirmed that the facility was working assiduously towards the official handover, with the technical specifications stipulated by McPherson University duly met to ensure comfort, security, and durability.
Following the inspection, the Registrar, Mrs. Emi’ Alawode, commended the contractor for the work and for working hard towards the agreed timelines. She noted that the completed infrastructure and staggered resumption arrangements reflect the university’s preparations to receive students for the 2026/2027 academic session.
