Professor Austin Omomia of the Department of Religion and Peace Studies, College of Humanities, Social and Management Sciences, McPherson University, has donated a wheelchair to Feranmi Adeyemi, a Junior Secondary School One (JSS1) student of McPherson University High School, to ease her mobility and support her learning.

Speaking during the presentation, Prof. Omomia explained that he was moved to act after receiving information about the student’s need for a wheelchair. He disclosed that he travelled to Lagos to make the necessary arrangements and returned on the morning of the presentation to deliver it to her.

“This is my first time seeing her. When I received information about her, I made preparations, travelled to Lagos and returned this morning to make it available. It is meant to ease your mobility,” he said.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Francis Adegbaye Igbasan, who was present at the presentation, encouraged Feranmi to remain focused and dedicated to her education, assuring her that her physical condition should not be seen as a limitation to her future success.

“Do not see it as a problem or a limit. God wanted it this way and has equally made provision. God will continue to provide. Be focused and dedicated, and you will succeed in life. More will come to make your learning better,” the Vice Chancellor told her.

The gesture reflects the importance of compassion, care and support in creating a more inclusive learning environment where students are encouraged to pursue their education and realise their potential.
