McPherson University Appoints Oguntokun as Acting Dean, College of Law

Dr. Oluwanike OGUNTOKUN has been appointed as the first Acting Dean of College of Law of McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, for one year with effect from February 1, 2024. With her appointment, which was approved by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, the don will be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor and Senate for the general and academic administration of her College in the areas of teaching, research and community services.

Dr. Oguntokun obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) in 2005 and Master of Law (LL.M.) in 2009 at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State. She later obtained her Master of Philosophy in Law (M.Phil) and Doctoral degree in Law (Ph.D.) at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State in 2016 and 2021 respectively. She was also at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos where she obtained her B.L in 2006. She initially bagged a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A. Hons) in Archaeology in 1989 and Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Archaeology in 1998 at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State.

From 1990 – 1991, Dr. Oguntokun was at the National State Council of Arts and Culture, Minna for her National Youth Service (NYSC) where she was later retained and served as a curator between 1991 and 1999. For her legal practice, she worked as a counsel at S.O Sanni & Co Legal Practitioners, Ibadan, Oyo State between 2007 and 2011.

She took a foray into academics in 2011 as a lecturer at the College of Law, Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State before her appointment as a Senior Lecturer at McPherson University on January 8, 2024.

She is a certified lawyer with scholarly publications in high impact journals, books and conference proceedings. The don has attended conferences, workshops and seminars where she delivered well impactful papers within and outside Nigeria. Her areas of interest are Human Rights Law, Medical Law, International Law and Heritage Law. She is currently a member of Nigerian Association of Law Teachers (NALT) and Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
