Dr. Abiola OMOTOSO has been appointed as the Deputy University Librarian of McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State sequel to a successful interview for the position. Her appointment, which takes effect from November 16, 2023, was approved by the University Governing Council upon the recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor and the University Appointments and Promotions Committee.
As the Deputy University Librarian, Dr. Omotoso is saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day activities of the University Library, especially in the Management of the Library staff and services generally. She is also responsible for planning, monitoring, supervising as well as teaching as the case may be.
Omotoso holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mass Communication from the Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State in 2004, and later proceeded to the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in Philosophy in 2006, Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) in 2010 and topped it with a doctoral degree (Ph.D) in Library and Information Science with a specialisation in Knowledge Management in 2020.
She did her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at Nigerite Limited between 2006 and 2007. Thereafter, she was employed as a graduate assistant in the Department of Library, Archival and Information Science in 2010 at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State before she moved to the Voice of Nigeria (VON) as a Librarian and later served as Deputy Head, Library Unit, under the Directorate of Programmes at VON between 2011 and 2012. She joined the services of McPherson University as one of the pioneer staff in 2012 till date.
Dr. Omotoso is a chartered Librarian and Knowledge Management Specialist with scholarly publications in high impact journals, books and conference proceedings. She is currently a member of Nigeria Library Association (NLA), Ogun State Chapter and Nigeria Library Society (NLS).
Presently, Dr. Omotoso is the Acting University Librarian of McPherson University since 2022 where she has been discharging her duties with exemplary diligence, excellence and commitment.
She is happily married and blessed with children.
