The Director of Foreign Missions, Foursquare Gospel Church, Rev. Sunday Adebiyi, led a 6-man delegation on a courtesy visit to McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State. The homage was marked by fruitful dialogue on prospective partnerships and institutional development.

The team was warmly received by the Pro-Chancellor of McPherson University, Rev. Dr. Babatunde Idowu, and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Igbasan. The visiting delegation included Rev. Francis Sey, General Overseer of Foursquare Gospel Church in Ghana, and his wife, Mrs. Adjoa Sey; Dr. Gary Matsoort, Director of Training, Global Church, USA; Pastor Olutomi Akinsulere; and Rev. Dr. Bangboye (Ministry Foreign Missions).

During the meeting, Rev. Dr. Babatunde Idowu highlighted the Institution’s notable achievements in infrastructural development and student enrollment growth. He also outlined current challenges faced by the University, especially the urgent need for expanded hostel facilities to support its targeted increase in student population.

According to the Pro-Chancellor, McPherson University has ongoing projects aimed at accommodating additional 800 students. “The University has set an ambitious target of enrolling 2,000 students for the 2025/2026 academic session. To achieve this, the Institution is seeking donors and strategic partners, and is open to collaborations under the Build Operate Transfer (BOT) model” he said.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Igbasan, provided an overview of the Institution’s academic profile, stating that all the programmes offered are fully accredited. He proudly shared that a McPherson University graduate emerged as the best candidate in Africa in the ACCA exams two years ago, a feat that underscores the Institution’s academic excellence.

Prof. Igbasan also emphasized the strength of McPherson University’s Nursing programme, describing its facilities as the best for Nursing training in Ogun State. He expressed optimism about future collaborations that could further strengthen the University’s global academic network.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Gary Matsoort from the United States, noted that the Foursquare Gospel Church currently operates six institutions globally. He expressed interest in establishing collaborative relationships among these schools and welcomed McPherson University to join this network.

Dr. Matsoort concluded by indicating that further discussions would be held to explore areas of partnership and shared development goals, signaling the beginning of a potentially impactful alliance with McPherson University.
