The Management of McPherson University has appointed Dr. Jerome Idiegbeyan-Ose, CLN, as the second substantive University Librarian.
In a letter dated April 9, 2025 and signed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Rev. Dr. Babatunde Idowu, which reads in part: “I have the pleasure to inform you that the Board of Trustees of McPherson University, at its meeting of March 13, 2025, approved the recommendations of the Selection Panel of the Governing Council that you be appointed as the University Librarian.”
Dr. Idiegbeyan-Ose, a highly experienced and dedicated professional, brings over two decades of expertise in Library and Information Science, academic leadership, and institutional development.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science from Edo State University, Ekpoma, in 1999, and a Master’s degree in the same field from the University of Ibadan in 2007. He obtained his Ph.D. in Information Resources Management (Library and Information Science) from Babcock University (2017). He is a registered member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Library Association (NLA), the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN), and holds the title of Certified Librarian of Nigeria (CLN).
Ahead of his appointment as the Institution’s Librarian, Dr. Idiegbeyan-Ose has had credible stints in other tertiary institutions, such as Wolex Polytechnic, Lagos (2002–2003, Librarian/Lecturer); Benson Idahosa University, Benin City (2003–2011); Covenant University, Ota (2011–2018); and Landmark University, Omu-Aran (2018–2020), where he served as University Librarian before taking on his most previous role as Polytechnic Librarian, Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji (2020–2025).
Armed with years of impactful leadership, innovation, and commitment to academic excellence, Dr. Idiegbeyan-Ose is expected to bring transformative contributions to McPherson University Library, as he formally resumes duties on Friday, May 2nd, 2025.
