THE UNIVERSITY

McPherson University is a licensed private Christian institution established by the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria.  The University, which is fully residential, is committed to producing future leaders who are God-fearing, creative and resourceful.  The University’s motto is Knowledge, Integrity and Service.

The University hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Registrar.

THE POSITION

The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University. The Registrar also serves as the Secretary to the Governing Council, Senate, Congregation, and Convocation.

THE CANDIDATE

The candidate, who will be Registrar, given the complexity and scientific nature of the administrative processes of a 21st century University, must not only be a goal-getter but must also be able to show drive, exceptional initiative, great ability for institutional networking with the outside world and must have a suave mien that typifies a 21st Century world class University.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE APPLICANT

Applicants for the post of Registrar must:

  • Possess a minimum of Second Class Honours (Lower Division) from a recognized university.
  • Hold a relevant Master’s degree.
  • Have at least fifteen (15) years, cognate post-qualification experience in a university with at least five (5) years as a Deputy Registrar.
  • Possession of relevant professional qualifications and membership in relevant professional bodies will be an advantage.

In addition, candidates must:

  1. Not be older than 60 years at the time of appointment.
  2. Have no criminal record.
  3. Demonstrate strong leadership, management, and communication skills.
  4. Exhibit mentorship skills and the ability to work as a team leader.
  5. Be physically and mentally fit.
  6. Possess personal integrity, transparency, and the ability to command respect within the University community.
  7. Be computer literate and knowledgeable in contemporary administrative practices.
  8. Understand University governance and administration.
  9. Demonstrate crisis management and problem-solving skills.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

McPherson University offers conditions of service comparable to what obtains in similar private universities of its standing as well as those in Nigerian public university system and as may be determined by Council from time-to-time. The University Registrar will hold the position for a single term of five years and no more.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

Interested candidates who meet the conditions for the position as indicated herewith are required to apply and comply with the following instructions:

(a)      Application must be submitted accompanied by the candidate’s detailed curriculum vitae duly signed and dated by the candidate, and credentials (all in electronic format). 

(b)     Each curriculum vitae must include the Names and Addresses of three referees.  Each applicant should request each of his/her referee to forward directly to the Pro-chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor.

(c)      The confidential reports indicating the candidate’s academic and managerial capabilities must reach the Pro-chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor before the closing date of the application.

Statement of the candidate’s own vision for Registry of McPherson University as a University of the 21st century should be submitted along with the Candidates’ document. Candidates CV should contain information in the following format:

Please note: only shortlisted candidates will be invited for the interview under the Committee of the Governing Council of the University.  Shortlisted candidates should bring hard copies of their applications, curriculum vitae, vision and mission statement and credentials to the Interview.
