McPherson University recently concluded its inaugural basketball competition, a resounding success that saw the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan, extend his congratulations to both the participating students and the sports directorate for their exceptional organisation.
Professor Igbasan also thanked New Horizon Computer Learning Center, the sponsors of the tournament, for their keen interest in promoting sporting events within the university system, particularly at McPherson. He assured them that future sporting initiatives would continue to receive the full backing of the university management.
The Vice-Chancellor used the opportunity to underscore the importance of sports in developing well-rounded individuals who excel not only academically but in all aspects of life. Gracing the event alongside other principal officers and university stakeholders, Professor Igbasan acknowledged the positive impact of this maiden edition on the entire university community, citing increased participation and overwhelmingly positive feedback. He further pledged the university’s continued support for sports initiatives, aiming to foster excellence, integrity, outstanding discipline, and robust shared values for success.
Earlier, Mr. Omotosho Layade, representing New Horizon, expressed his gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and the university administration for the unique opportunity to sponsor the programme. He affirmed his organisation’s commitment to continued sponsorship and participation in the university’s sporting events.
The highly anticipated final match saw New Horizon Hoopers emerge victorious with a score of 41 points, while Igbasan Bucks put up a strong fight with 23 points, making the maiden edition of the basketball competition an absolutely captivating event.
