Appointment of Dr Michael Osho as Acting Dean, College of Postgraduate Studies

The Management of McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, has approved the appointment of Dr. Michael Osho as the Acting Dean, College of Postgraduate Studies, with effect from August 1, 2025, for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Dr. Osho is a Reader in Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology in the Department of Biological Sciences, College of Natural and Applied Sciences (COLNAS), McPherson University. He is a distinguished alumnus of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, where he earned his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in 1995, 2003, and 2013, respectively.

Prior to this new appointment, Dr. Osho served as the Acting Dean of COLNAS and was, at various times, the Acting Head of the Department of Biological Sciences. Since joining the University in 2012, he has contributed significantly to academic leadership and currently serves as the Chairman of the Student Enrollment Drive Committee.

Dr. Osho’s research interests span biosynthesis of nanoparticles and their industrial applications, enzymatic synthesis of phytochemicals, and cell and enzyme immobilization on plant-based matrices. His outstanding contributions to research and academia have earned him numerous awards, including the STEP B Research Grant from the Federal Ministry of Education during his Ph.D., the Best Faculty Award, the International Scientist Award (INSO 2021) on Engineering, Science, and Medicine, and the Most Productive & Excellence Award at McPherson University. He was also a recipient of the Travel Grant to the TechConnect World Innovation Conference & Expo in Maryland, USA, sponsored by Applied Microbiology International (UK).

He is a member of several prestigious professional bodies, including the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), Applied Microbiology International (AMI, UK), Nigerian Society for Microbiology (NSM), Biotechnology Society of Nigeria (BSN), and the Nigerian Bioinformatics and Genomics Network (NBGN). Dr. Osho has published widely in both national and international journals and serves as an editorial board member and reviewer for reputable academic journals. He is also an external examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in both public and private universities.
