Appointment of Dr. Oke as Acting Dean, Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science

The Management of McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, has approved the appointment of Dr. Adewale Adegboyega Oke, PhD, AMT (MLS), as the Acting Dean, Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science, with effect from August 1, 2025.

Until this appointment, Dr. Oke served as the Acting Head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science before its transition into a full-fledged faculty. By this elevation, he becomes the pioneer dean of the Faculty and officially joins the league of deans of the University.

Dr. Oke is a Senior Lecturer, Medical Laboratory Scientist, and Researcher, with several years of teaching, training, and research experience in medical microbiology and biomedical sciences. He holds a PhD in Medical Microbiology from Redeemer’s University, Nigeria, alongside a robust academic profile including multiple master’s degrees and diplomas in immunology, biomedical science, procurement, and supply chain management.

His academic and professional journey is distinguished by numerous honors and fellowships, including the Excellence and Productivity in Performance Award (2024) at McPherson University, Best Poster Presentations at the IBMS Congress in the UK (2019 & 2022), and international travel awards from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the American Society for Microbiology. He also serves as the Chairman, Board of Trustees, University of Wolverhampton Alumni Association, Nigeria.

Dr. Oke is an active member of several national and international professional bodies including the Institute of Biomedical Science (UK), Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, American Medical Technologists (USA), African Society for Laboratory Medicine, and the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, among others.

He has over 30 publications in reputable local and international journals and continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of medical laboratory science.
