The Management of McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Adewumi Olubunmi Ajibade as Acting Director, Centre for Continuing Education, with effect from August 1, 2025, for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Dr. Ajibade holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Hons.), Master of Science (M.Sc.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria.
He began his professional career in journalism, working in various capacities across several national newspapers and a magazine between 1987 and 1997. In 1997, he joined the faculty of the Department of Mass Communication at the University of Lagos as Lecturer II and rose to the rank of Senior Lecturer in 2012.
His first engagement with McPherson University was during the 2017/2018 academic session when he came on sabbatical leave from the University of Lagos. During this period, he served as Acting Head of the Department of Mass Communication, leading the department to secure its first full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Dr. Ajibade returned to McPherson University in 2022 as Associate Professor and Acting Head of the Department of Mass Communication. In 2023, he was appointed Acting Dean of the College of Humanities, Social and Management Sciences.
His areas of expertise span journalism, media management, media law and ethics, communication theories, and development/strategic communication. Over the past 20 years, he has also served as a strategic communication consultant to various government agencies, international bodies such as UNICEF and WHO, as well as numerous non-governmental organisations.
He is a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (MNIPR) since 1991, a Member of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN) since 2011, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management (FCISM) since 2021.
