In another remarkable act of generosity, Elder (Dr.) Adebola Olubanjo has donated a health facility to McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State. The facility, named Adebola Olubanjo Health Centre, was officially commissioned amid joy and celebration, marking another milestone in the university’s pursuit of academic excellence and community development.
The new health Centre is a modern medical complex designed to enhance healthcare delivery within the university community and neighboring areas. It comprises a theatre room, consulting rooms, offices, male and female wards, an X-ray room, and dedicated antenatal and prenatal sections, among other essential facilities.
The commissioning ceremony attracted dignitaries, members of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, friends, and family of the donor. Representing the Visitor to the University and General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Rev. (Dr.) Sam Aboyeji, was his wife, Rev. Mrs. Olabisi Aboyeji, who commended Elder (Dr.) Olubanjo for his foresight and enduring commitment to humanity.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan, the Director of Academic Planning, Professor Kenneth Nwoko, described the facility as a significant addition that would serve not only the university but also 14 neighboring villages. He emphasized that such donations strengthen the university’s capacity to deliver quality healthcare and extend its impact beyond the campus.
Professor Igbasan, through his representative, noted that “buildings like this do not rise from blueprints alone; they are forged in the fires of dedication and devotion.” He praised Elder (Dr,) Olubanjo for his selflessness and unwavering faith, describing him as a model of service and commitment.
The Vice Chancellor further highlighted Dr. Olubanjo’s long standing contributions to the institution, noting that as a former member of both the University’s Board of Trustees and Governing Council, he provided strategic guidance and support that shaped McPherson’s steady growth.
Beyond his leadership roles, Dr. Olubanjo was acknowledged for his instrumental efforts in mobilizing resources, inspiring philanthropy, and personally investing in the university’s expansion. His initiatives have contributed to the establishment of key facilities and the empowerment of scholars across disciplines.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Engr. (Pastor) Kunle Allen, lauded the donor’s consistency and devotion to McPherson University’s advancement. “You have been continually involved in building McPherson University,” he remarked, affirming that the donor’s legacy is deeply woven into the institution’s history.
Pastor Allen further appealed for support, adding that “We are highly receptive to any gift or donation that will help us build the McPherson University of our dreams,”
The event featured a soulful music ministration by Dr. (Mrs.) Kenny Olubanjo, wife of the donor, which enriched the atmosphere with gratitude and reverence. Her performance was a symbolic expression of the family’s shared faith and commitment to the university’s vision.
Delivering an exhortation, the National Secretary of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Rev Samson Alawode, described the facility as “a place of learning, healing, and hope.” He commended the donor’s humility and spiritual depth, stating, “This kind of generosity can only come from a heart that has conquered greed.”
In his remarks, Elder (Dr.) Adebola Olubanjo shared the inspiration behind the project, recalling his days on the University Establishment Committee. “I am only the lead; this is our project, it is our collective work,” he said, dedicating the success to God and to the entire McPherson community.
He concluded with a prophetic vision for the future, expressing hope that the facility would one day become a full-fledged teaching hospital. “I see a place where people will not only receive medical care but also encounter Christ. It is not just a hospital, it is a ministry,” he declared to resounding applause.
