McPherson University Appoints Mrs. Emilomo Joy Alawode as New Registrar

McPherson University, Seriki-Sotayo, Ogun State, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Emilomo Joy Alawode as the third substantive Registrar, with effect from Monday, January 5th, 2026. This appointment marks a significant milestone in the University’s ongoing pursuit of administrative excellence and sustainable academic growth. She succeeds her predecessor with a clear mandate to further strengthen the institution’s administrative systems and governance framework.

The appointment was formally communicated in a letter dated September 22, 2025, signed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Rev. (Dr.) Babatunde Idowu. This decision followed a rigorous and transparent selection process, and  the approval of the Board of Trustees upon the recommendation of the Governing Council’s Selection Panel.

Mrs. Alawode joins McPherson University from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), where she served with distinction as a Deputy Registrar. A seasoned administrator with deep insight into institutional management, she brings extensive experience in governance, human resources, Communication and academic administration. Notably, her appointment represents a homecoming, having previously served as the pioneer Visiting Deputy Registrar in 2012. During that period, she played a key role in laying the foundation of the University’s administrative structures and pioneered its first official news bulletin, McU Echo.

At FUNAAB, Mrs. Alawode consistently demonstrated innovation and leadership. As Head of the Academic Staff Establishment Unit, she introduced electronic meeting folders for the Appointments and Promotions Committee, significantly improving efficiency and streamlining decision-making processes. In addition, her tenure as Head of the Directorate of Public Relations was marked by the complete redesign of the University Bulletin, a development that greatly enhanced institutional communication and public engagement.

Her academic qualifications further complement her professional achievements. Mrs. Alawode holds two Master’s degrees in International Communication from Leeds Beckett University, United Kingdom, and Vilnius University, Lithuania. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Classics and Linguistics from the University of Ibadan. Currently pursuing doctoral studies, she continues to engage actively with contemporary administrative theory and best practices.

Beyond her official responsibilities, Mrs. Alawode is a strong advocate for education, leadership development, and technology-driven advancement. She is widely respected for her commitment to mentoring young professionals, particularly women, through leadership and career development initiatives. Her expertise in media relations and strategic communication is expected to further enhance McPherson University’s visibility and reputation within the global academic community.
