Dr. Abiola OMOTOSO has been appointed as the Deputy University Librarian of McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State sequel to a successful interview for the position. Her appointment, which takes effect from November 16, 2023, was approved by the University Governing Council upon the recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor and the University Appointments and Promotions Committee.

As the Deputy University Librarian, Dr. Omotoso is saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day activities of the University Library, especially in the Management of the Library staff and services generally. She is also responsible for planning, monitoring, supervising as well as teaching as the case may be.

Omotoso holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mass Communication from the Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State in 2004, and later proceeded to the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in Philosophy in 2006, Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) in 2010 and topped it with a doctoral degree (Ph.D) in Library and Information Science with a specialisation in Knowledge Management in 2020.

She did her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at Nigerite Limited between 2006 and 2007. Thereafter, she was employed as a graduate assistant in the Department of Library, Archival and Information Science in 2010 at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State before she moved to the Voice of Nigeria (VON) as a Librarian and later served as Deputy Head, Library Unit, under the Directorate of Programmes at VON between 2011 and 2012. She joined the services of McPherson University as one of the pioneer staff in 2012 till date.

Dr. Omotoso is a chartered Librarian and Knowledge Management Specialist with scholarly publications in high impact journals, books and conference proceedings. She is currently a member of Nigeria Library Association (NLA), Ogun State Chapter and Nigeria Library Society (NLS).

Presently, Dr. Omotoso is the Acting University Librarian of McPherson University since 2022 where she has been discharging her duties with exemplary diligence, excellence and commitment.

She is happily married and blessed with children.

McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State has officially admitted its new students for the 2023/2024 academic session at its 12th Matriculation Ceremony held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at the University Multipurpose Hall.

The matriculants, who were beaming in their resplendent gowns, took their matriculation oath as administered by the Acting Registrar of the Institution, Mr. Olufemi Adebowale. They pledged to, among other things, be of good conduct and ensure peaceful co-existence with all other members of the University Community.

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor,Prof. Francis Igbasan, on the authority of the Senate of McPherson University, admitted all the matriculating students severally as bona fide students of the Institution.
While addressing the matriculants, the Vice-Chancellor charged them to imbibe the culture, values and virtues of the University, and to take their studies seriously.

Here at McPherson University, “academic success is not an accident, you must work for it, and you must be studious to be the best”, Prof. Igbasan noted.
He stated emphatically that McPherson University would not condoned any acts inimical to its well-being as the University has zero tolerance for sexual immorality, drug use and abuse, examination malpractices and other social vices.

Prof. Igbasan further counselled the students to avoid acts that could lead to termination of their studentship abruptly, and be mindful of the kind of company they keep on campus and online as evil communication corrupts good manners.

As a faith-based University, he admonished the matriculants to participate in every spiritual activity organized by the University Chaplaincy from time to time, noting that they should take their relationship with God very seriously.

While rolling out the number of matriculated students across the six colleges in the University, including the Centre for Continuous Education ( Part-Time), the Vice-Chancellor revealed that a total of 551 students were successfully admitted and matriculated at the ceremony, having met the admission registration processes within the stipulated time.

The Vice-Chancellor, while appreciating the parents, guardians and other guests in attendance, hinted that the matriculated figure was an improvement over last year, saying the bar of student enrolment would be raised by next academic session.

The 12th Matriculation Ceremony of McPherson University recorded a huge success as it was well-attended by all relevant stakeholders.

A pioneer faculty member of McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, Dr. Isaac Oladepo ONIGBINDE, has been promoted to the professorial cadre with effect from October 1, 2022.

The Governing Council of McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, has approved the appointment of Prof. Julius Olatunji OKESOLA as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University with effect from November 16, 2023. The decision was taken at the 41st Statutory Meeting of the Council held same day, and it is for two (2) years in the first instance and renewable for another two (2) years based on satisfactory performance.
