We provide Health service to students, staffs of the University, the host community and road traffic accident victims along Ibadan-Lagos express way.

The Health Centre comprises of the following unit.

  • Consulting unit
  • Nursing unit
  • Pharmacy unit
  • Medical Records units
  • Laboratory units

Each unit is lead by the Head of the unit who is responsible for all the staffs in the unit and reports to the Head of department or Ag.Director of Health Services of McPherson University.

The lead in consulting unit most be a medical doctor as are all staffs of the consulting unit. They attend to people who report sick at the health centre, take detailed medical history of patients, and after thorough medical examination may request for laboratory/imaging tests, then make reasonable diagnosis and prescribe treatment for the patient.

Services offered include consulting, councelling, ward rounds, referal when needed, minor/moderate surgeries, Ante natal clinic, family planning and ultra sound  scan, prescribing  treatment, pre-admission medical examination, pre-employment medical check etc.

The Nursing unit is lead by the Head Nurse, and they care for the sick people by taking their vital signs, administer injections and oral medications, monitoring patient on admission, assisting in minor/moderate surgeries etc.

The Pharmacy unit is headed by a chief pharmacist. The unit is in charge of purchasing drugs and consumables, dispensing drugs and monitoring drug compliance by patients.

The Laboratory unit is lead by a medical laboratory scientist. The laboratory is responsible for collection of samples, carrying out laboratory tests and writing results of laboratory tests done.

A Health information manager is in-charge of the medical records unit.

This unit is in-charge of registration of new clients, retrieving and filing case files,  Electronic Health records and attending to the clients who want to see the doctor for complain.

Mission 

“To provide good and quality health care services to the McPherson University community and to ensure that members of the McPherson community are in good health, living in a healthy environment and having healthy meals prepared and served in healthy environment.

The objectives/goals of the Health Centre include but not limited to:-

  1. To identify students and staff with special health needs and advise them on the best possible way to manage them.
  2. To help increase the University revenue generation by offering health services to host communities and organisation in our environment at reasonable cost.
  3. To carry out mandatory food handlers test on all staffs of the food vendors on campus as well as periodic quality inspections of the canteens/caterers to ensure that healthy food is served to McPherson University Community.
  4. To hold periodic discussions with students on health habits, and students well being as well as effects of substance abuse on students.
  5. To improve service delivery at the Health Centre for the University Community by ensuring that people who report sick at the Health centre are attended to without delay.
  6. To identify by close monitoring and random laboratory tests student prone to substance abuse and help by counselling or recommendation to rehabilitation Centres.
  7. To encourage and assist students with health challenges not to see themselves as handicap but to work hard in order to realise their dreams.
  8. To continually advice the Vice Chancellor and management on health issues in the University especially regarding prevention medicine.

The University Health Centre is open for service everyday of the week and at all times. Student and Staff can access the Health Centre any time from Monday to Sunday, January to December except for the Christmas and New year week when only minimal services are offered for only emergency situations.
