As the world marks World Cancer Day 2025, the Public Health Department of McPherson University has joined the global movement to raise awareness, educate communities, and promote cancer prevention. The initiative aligns with this year’s theme, “Close the Care Gap,”which emphasizes the need for equitable access to cancer care, early detection, and treatment for all. 

The Vice-Chancellor of McPherson University, Professor Francis Igbasan, has admonished students to be good ambassadors of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and McPherson University as they embark on their Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) training for the year. He made this remark while addressing officials from ITF during a recent visit to the University. 

The Directorate of Student Affairs, McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, in collaboration with the Cultural Youth Movement Education Foundation, recently organized a public lecture titled “Addressing Violent Extremism and Promoting Peace in West Africa: Young People as Peace Drivers.” The event brought together scholars, peace advocates, and young changemakers to discuss solutions to violent extremism and promote peacebuilding efforts in the region. 

The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) conducted a Resource Verification Exercise in McPherson University The visit was part of the institution’s request for an increase in its admission quota for the Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSc.) programme and its aspiration to establish a Faculty of Nursing.

The visit was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the university and the state government. 

The management of McPherson University, convened a meeting with all vendors operating within the University campus to review their activities and deliberate on issues since the commencement of the 2024/2025 academic session. The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration between the university and its vendors while addressing concerns impacting the campus community. 

The Department of Accounting, College of Social and Management Sciences at McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, hosted the project defense of two Master of Science (MSc) students. The defense showcased the academic and research excellence within the department. 

Professor Alese Boniface Kayode of the Department of Cyber Security, Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction of a 5,000-seat multipurpose hall at McPherson University during a recent visit to the institution. The inspection followed his participation in an M.Sc project assessment at the university. 

The College of Computing at McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, has made history by hosting its first Master’s dissertation defense in Computer Science. The exercise was another development in university’s academic achievements.
