The Vice-Chancellor of McPherson University, Professor Francis Igbasan, alongside his management team, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu, at his office. The visit was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the university and the state government.
The Honourable Commissioner, who was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Sefiu Rasheed, and some directors, warmly received the delegation. Professor Arigbabu described McPherson University as a fast-growing institution, commending its contributions to education in the state.
Highlighting Ogun State’s unique position as the state with the highest number of tertiary institutions in Nigeria, Professor Arigbabu assured the university of the government’s continued support. He stated, “We will continue to extend goodwill to your institution… there are things we can influence on your behalf.”
The commissioner also praised Professor Igbasan for his leadership, noting that the university is fortunate to have him at the helm of affairs. He added, “When you will be leaving, they’ll be begging you to stay because of the experience and growth you’ve brought to McPherson University.”
During the visit, Professor Igbasan provided a brief history of McPherson University and highlighted its achievements over the years. He also used the opportunity to invite the Commissioner to the combined 8th and 9th Convocation Ceremonies scheduled to hold on February 28, 2025.
The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by key members of his management team, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olatunji Okesola; the Acting Registrar, Mr. Olufemi Adebowale; the University Bursar, Mrs. Aderonke Adeofun; and the Acting University Librarian, Dr. Abiola Omotosho.
The meeting further reinforced the collaboration between the Ogun State Government and McPherson University, with both parties expressing their commitment to advancing education and fostering development within the state.
