McPherson University Strengthens Ties with FMC Abeokuta

The Vice-Chancellor of McPherson University, Professor Francis Igbasan, alongside his entourage, recently visited the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Ogun State. The visit aimed to appreciate the hospital’s efforts in training McPherson University students and to strengthen the existing partnership between both institutions. 

Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, is a top-tier health institution established by the Federal Government of Nigeria to provide quality medical services and training. The centre has been a critical partner in the training of students from McPherson University’s Nursing Science, Public Health, Medical Laboratory Science, and Health Information Management programs. 

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by members of his management team, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olatunji Okesola; the Acting Registrar, Mr. Olufemi Adebowale; the University Bursar, Mrs. Aderonke Adeofun; and the Acting University Librarian, Dr. Abiola Omotosho. The visit was an opportunity to acknowledge FMC Abeokuta’s support in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals. 

Professor Igbasan expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Medical Director, Professor Adewale Musa-Olomu and his team for their tireless efforts in training McPherson University students during their clinical postings. He highlighted the critical role FMC Abeokuta plays in bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical experience for the students. 

In his response, the Chief Medical Director, FMC Abeokuta, in company of top management staff of the hospital expressed his appreciation for the visit. He reassured the McPherson University team of the centre’s continued support, noting that the partnership would remain strong even when there is a change in leadership at FMC. 

The McPherson University delegation was warmly received by the FMC team, which included Dr. Adediran, Head of Clinical Services; Mr. Apanisile Kehinde, Director of Administration; Dr. Mrs. Oyesiji Tajudeen, Hospital Management Secretary; and Mrs. Omoniyi, Head of Engineering Services. Their presence underscored the hospital’s commitment to fostering strong collaborations with academic institutions. 

As a gesture of appreciation, the Vice-Chancellor and his team presented branded souvenirs from McPherson University to the FMC leadership. The visit reaffirmed the mutual commitment to academic excellence, hands-on training, and the development of healthcare professionals equipped to meet global standards.
