Rev. Dr. Sam Aboyeji, the General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria and Visitor to McPherson University, accompanied by his wife, Rev. Olabisi Aboyeji, paid a working visit to inspect the ongoing construction of a 5,000 capacity multipurpose hall. The project, expected to be a transformative development for the Institution, is currently under construction and will provide students, faculty, and visitors with a modern facility for various events and activities.
During his visit, Rev. Aboyeji expressed his appreciation for the progress made so far on the project. In his remarks, he stated, “We are not where we used to be, and we are not where we want to be.” His words reflect the continuous journey of growth and development McPherson University is witnessing under the leadership of Prof. Francis Igbasan, as it strives to meet its institutional goals.
Rev. Aboyeji also took time to recognize the University’s Management, under the headship of Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Igbasan, whom he described as “a man of faith.” He expressed his prayers for divine guidance and strength for the Vice-Chancellor to continue steering the University toward greater success.
The highlight of the visit was a guided tour of the construction site, led by the architect in charge of the project, Architect Titilayo Keku. The tour provided the Visitor and his team, along with the University’s Management, a closer look at the scope of the project. Architect Titilayo detailed the design and layout of the building, emphasizing that modern facilities being incorporated into the structure.
According to Architect Titilayo, the multipurpose hall is designed to accommodate up to 5,000 people. The building will feature several amenities, including 30 bathrooms, offices, multiple conference rooms, a security room, and dedicated spaces for vendors to sell goods during events. The development aims to create a versatile environment that will support academic, social, and cultural activities at the campus.
In his address, Architect Titilayo assured the Visitor that the construction is progressing according to schedule, and the project will be completed on time. He also expressed optimism that the multipurpose hall will significantly enhance the University’s capacity to host large scale events, conferences, and other functions in the future.
The University’s Ag. Registrar, Mr. Olufemi Adebowale, delivered the closing remarks, thanking Rev. Aboyeji and his wife for the visit and support. He also expressed hope that the University would continue to receive such visits in the course of the year, especially when new projects and facilities are ready for commissioning.
The completion of the multipurpose hall is anticipated to be a landmark moment for the University, providing a state-of-the-art venue for various academic and extracurricular activities.
